Baseball Game Preview: Tolono Unity Rockets vs. St. Thomas More Sabers

The Tolono Unity Rockets will take on the St. Thomas More Sabers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Tolono Unity is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Tolono Unity's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Coal City with a sharp 9-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.

Brady Parr made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Parr was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tre Hoggard, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Coleton Langendorf, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Tolono Unity kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coal City only managed three hits.

St. Thomas More couldn't beat Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Sabers took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.

St. Thomas More's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Tolono Unity, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Tolono Unity took their win against St. Thomas More in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Sabers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
