Baseball Recap: Willow Glen Has No Trouble Against Oak Grove

Willow Glen had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Oak Grove Eagles 14-0 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.

Spencer Bartlinski made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only three hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, Tyson Paganini looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Back at the plate, Marco Madsen was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ray Walsh was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Willow Glen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Grove only posted an OBP of .182.

Willow Glen didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-4 win against Milpitas on the 26th. As for Oak Grove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-1 loss against Leland on the 25th.
