Basketball Recap: Fatima Comets vs. St. Elizabeth Hornets

In what's become a running theme this season, the Fatima Comets gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They claimed a resounding 72-42 victory over St. Elizabeth on the road. Given Fatima's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Hornets are ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Elizabeth lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gavin Williams, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals. Eli Kemna was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Fatima's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points per game. As for St. Elizabeth, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fatima will take on the Eagles at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Eugene knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully the Comets like a good challenge. As for St. Elizabeth, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m. on February 6th. South Callaway will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
