Basketball Recap: Jenkins Takes a Loss

Jenkins lost against Beach back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Jenkins Warriors fell just short of the Beach Bulldogs by a score of 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since January 23, 2024.

Despite the loss, Jenkins still got an impressive performance from Dominique Johnson, who posted ten points along with six assists and five steals. Johnson has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamari Tilley Jr., who went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points and eight boards.

Chandler Reid continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Beach, going 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points and three steals. That's the most points Reid has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Newton, who earned 14 points.

Jenkins has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Beach, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-11.

Jenkins will venture away from home to square off against Calvary Day at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvary Day will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Jenkins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Beach, they will be playing at home against Groves at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
