Baseball Recap: Allegiance's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Allegiance ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 13-8 victory over Non Varsity Opponent. The win was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Israel Fuentes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Fuentes was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Allegiance got a massive performance out of Isaac Zegers, who got on base in five of his seven plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Zegers a new career-high in hits (three). Tristin Byrd was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs and two doubles.

Allegiance always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .554. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Allegiance's victory bumped their record up to 8-11.

Coming up, Allegiance will head out on the road to challenge St. Stephen's Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Non Varsity Opponent has already played their next contest (against Deweyville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
