Soccer Game Preview: Santa Fe vs. La Serna

Santa Fe hasn't had much luck against La Serna recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Santa Fe Chiefs will look to defend their home pitch against the La Serna Lancers at 3:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Santa Fe lost 5-1 to El Rancho on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Dons are ranked 101st).

Santa Fe's goal came courtesy of Isabel Moreno, who's now up to 25 this season.

Meanwhile, La Serna waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Condors onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Lancers were the better team in the second half.

The victory got La Serna back to even at 7-7-1. As for Santa Fe, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5-1.

Santa Fe might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from La Serna in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Santa Fe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
