Basketball Recap: Kwame Samuels' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Clarksburg over Wootton

Clarksburg lost against Wootton back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Clarksburg Coyotes took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wootton Patriots. The Coyotes just can't catch a break and have now endured eight losses in a row dating back to last season.

Several Coyotes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kwame Samuels, who posted six points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was Anthony Garris, who had seven points in addition to 12 boards and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Clarksburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Wootton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brenden Famulare, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Famulare a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Mitchell, who put up 18 points.

Clarksburg's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Wootton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Clarksburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-56 win against Walter Johnson on the 18th. As for Wootton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-42 victory against Northwood on the 16th.
