After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Paul Catholic, Torrington was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Derby Red Raiders, sneaking past 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now won three in a row.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Torrington got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-20, 23-25, 25-14, 25-27, 15-13.

They weren't the only good server: Torrington was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 22 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Derby only served eight aces.
Several Red Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shea Gray, who had 15 kills and nine digs. Gray is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Fearon, who had eight digs, six kills, and four aces.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Derby, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
