Football Recap: Loris Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Loris couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were outmatched by the Oceanside Collegiate Academy Landsharks and fell 38-7. The Lions were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than 31 points in the seven matchups prior), but the Landsharks' defense proved too tough.

Zamire Gerald threw for 73 yards on nine of 20 attempts. Jacobien Lewis was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards. On the ground, Makel Stephens rushed for 50 yards.

Terence Johnson produced another solid effort picking up 139 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 64 yards and a pair of TDs for Oceanside Collegiate Academy. That's the most receiving yards Johnson has posted since back in September. Aiden Manavian was another key player, having thrown for 276 yards and two touchdowns.

Loris' loss dropped their record down to 13-1. As for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Loris does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, they will challenge Belton-Honea Path at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Landsharks will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
