Softball Recap: Union Takes a Loss

Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Aplington-Parkersburg Falcons, falling 11-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 10-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in June of 2024.

Union's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Aplington-Parkersburg, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-11 record.

Union and Aplington-Parkersburg could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Iowa Rankings. The Knights (ranked 292nd) will meet Jesup (ranked 84th) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Aplington-Parkersburg will take on Belmond-Klemme at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (265 vs. 106).
