Softball Recap: Martinsville Pirates vs. Chester Yellowjackets

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Martinsville can now relate to. They lost 15-0 to the Chester Yellowjackets on Saturday. Martinsville has not had much luck with Chester recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

For Chester's part, Kinsley Barnes made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Barnes was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Lauren Citrano was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Holly Moore was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Chester, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-14.

Martinsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chester, they will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Brookeland. Brookeland will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Chester surely won't give up without a fight.
