Soccer Recap: Belleview Victorious

Belleview hadn't done well against West Port recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Belleview Rattlers' defense stepped up to hand the West Port Wolf Pack a 2-0 shutout. Analuisa Jimenez had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Rattlers.

Belleview used a slightly different lineup for their bout with West Port. Maria Chavez played for 60 minutes having averaged 35 this season and Jimenez got 80 vs. an average of 52.2. Jimenez made the most of the opportunity, scoring two goals and five steals A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Belleview's victory bumped their record up to 4-5-1. As for West Port, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belleview will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against The Villages Charter at 7:00 p.m. on January 13, 2025. After both having extra time off, West Port and Leesburg will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
