Football Recap: Bishop Ireton Takes a Loss

Bishop Ireton lost against Potomac School back in September of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cardinals took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. While the Cardinals had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Panthers 6-0.

A big part of Potomac School's victory came down to the chemistry between Sean Sutherland and his top target Akim Iscandari. Sutherland threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes while Iscandari picked up 101 receiving yards and one TD. Iscandari got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 55 yards.

Bishop Ireton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Potomac School, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Bishop Ireton will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Landon at 11:00 a.m. on October 4. As for Potomac School, they will head out on the road to take on St. Stephen's & St. Agnes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The contest will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
