Rynn Fickling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fickling was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kinlee Ray was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Esme Montejano, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Calhoun Academy got the win against Orangeburg Prep on Wednesday by a conclusive 7-1. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Jefferson Davis Academy, Calhoun Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Cailin Shirer. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). Shirer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Adalynne Fallaw was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.
Calhoun Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 13 consecutive games.
The victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 3-8. As for Calhoun Academy, their record now sits at 12-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jefferson Davis Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Calhoun Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Jefferson Davis Academy might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from Calhoun Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
