Basketball Recap: Newton Homeschool's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

After a string of four wins, Newton HomeSchool's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the St. Joseph D Defenders by a score of 39-36. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Defenders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samuel Fistler, who went 5-for-12 en route to 12 points. The dominant performance gave Fistler a new career-high in points. Eli Hoelscher was another key player, putting up six points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Newton HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Newton HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 10-16. As for St. Joseph D, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

As of now, neither Newton HomeSchool nor St. Joseph D have any future games scheduled.
