Softball Recap: Ben Davis Comes Up Short

Ben Davis extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-7 in the process. They came up short against the Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans, falling 19-2. The Giants were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ben Davis saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Regan Auguste, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Auguste has hit this season.

As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, their record is now 10-6. Considering they have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Indianapolis Bishop Chatard's side, Anna Caskey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Caskey was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Anni Felts was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Avery Gries was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Ben Davis didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-3 victory against Pike on the 26th. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-10 defeat against North Central on the 26th.
