Basketball Recap: Cortland Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Cortland waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They managed a 61-55 victory over the Skaneateles Lakers. For the Purple Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 60-50 win the Lakers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cortland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Johnson, who posted 14 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Muir, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points.

Cortland pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Skaneateles, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Cortland will be taking part in a tournament against McGraw at 6:45 p.m. on December 27th. As for Skaneateles, they will venture away from home to take on General Brown at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
