The St. Bonaventure Seraphs are taking a road trip to take on the Cate Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Bonaventure has six straight wins, Cate has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, St. Bonaventure needed a bit of extra time to put away Santa Paula. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
St. Bonaventure's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rowen Kaiser, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Cate scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Grace, falling 12-3.
Chase Meyer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.
St. Bonaventure's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Cate, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
St. Bonaventure's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Seraphs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Cate, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will St. Bonaventure continue to outrun the ball?
St. Bonaventure got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 against Cate by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seraphs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
