Softball Recap: DeRidder Comes Up Short

DeRidder was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 16-2 to the Iota Bulldogs.

DeRidder saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another was Elley Allen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

DeRidder's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Iota, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, DeRidder will take on Iowa at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. DeRidder has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Iota, they will challenge Doyle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Doyle will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Iota surely won't give up without a fight.
