Baseball Recap: Waynesboro Gets the Win

Waynesboro's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Charlottesville Black Knights 8-7. This was a revenge game for the Little Giants: when they faced off against the Black Knights last Friday, they had to take a 9-7 defeat.

Casey Breeden was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Waynesboro: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jasiah Berg, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Waynesboro's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Charlottesville, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Waynesboro will head out to take on Buffalo Gap at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Charlottesville, they will take on Louisa County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Black Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
