Basketball Recap: Kennedy Takes a Loss

Kennedy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They took a 72-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the DSST: Montview Knights. While losing is never fun, the Commanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Knights are ranked 153rd).

Despite the loss, Kennedy still got an impressive performance from Anthony Zink, who went 11 for 18 on his way to 26 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Zink has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isaac Trujillo, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Kennedy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Kennedy's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for DSST: Montview, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Kennedy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against KIPP Denver Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. Kennedy is facing KIPP Denver Collegiate at the right time seeing as KIPP Denver Collegiate is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for DSST: Montview, they will venture away from home to take on DSST: College View at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DSST: Montview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully DSST: College View likes a good challenge.
