Football Recap: Judson Starts Season with Loss at Home

Judson unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Johnson Jaguars on Thursday, falling 45-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Rockets in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost three in a row.

Judson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Marcel Smith and Gabriel Brisbane. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made seven or more in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season.

Leading Johnson to victory were Aaron Crawford and Elvis Estrada. Crawford rushed for 97 yards and one score on only five carries, while Estrada threw for 143 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. That's the most rushing yards Crawford has posted since back in September of 2024.

Looking ahead, Judson will challenge Hutto at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Johnson, they will square off against Pieper at 7:30 p.m. on the 5th.
