Football Recap: Cameron Kunkle Leads Ligonier Valley's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

Ligonier Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the Greensburg Salem Golden Lions. The Rams lost against the Golden Lions in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 43-14 score last time.

Despite the defeat, Ligonier Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Greyson Daugherty picked up 87 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Ligonier Valley's defense didn't let Brody Chismar., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Cameron Kunkle with two sacks. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made eight or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

Greensburg Salem's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chismar, who threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 38 yards. 81 of Chismar's passing yards were hauled in by Maxim Topper, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Ligonier Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Greensburg Salem, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ligonier Valley will venture away from home to challenge Jeannette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Greensburg Salem, they will head out to take on Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
