Volleyball Recap: New Haven Shamrocks vs. Hermann Bearcats

New Haven was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hermann Bearcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Tuesday.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Hermann scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-20.

New Haven's offense was headlined by Alivia Guehne and Lydia Payne, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Hannah Knight and her 12 assists. Hannah Schneider controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Hermann can attribute much of their success to Kealie Lane, who had 11 digs and two aces. Lane is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Kalli Landolt also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

New Haven's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16-2. As for Hermann, they now have a winning record of 9-8-1.

New Haven wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against St. Louis Christian Academy on the 30th. As for Hermann, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Pacific on the 30th.
