Basketball Recap: Lake View Piles Up the Points Against Elgin

Lake View saw some tournament action on Saturday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 54-18 stomp they got against the Elgin Maroons.

Daniel Loza was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points and three steals. He has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Frank Fregoso, who posted four points in addition to eight steals and six assists.

Lake View is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points per game. As for Elgin, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Lake View will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Von Steuben at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Elgin, they will challenge Aurora East at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
