Basketball Recap: Silliman Institute Comes Up Short

After flying high against Adams County Christian two weeks ago, Silliman Institute came back down to earth. The Silliman Institute Wildcats took a blow against the Parklane Academy Pioneers on Friday, falling 72-40. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now lost five in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Silliman Institute lost, don't look at Katie Ryan Dawson. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. That was a full 45% of Silliman Institute's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Carlie Dawson, who had nine points and seven rebounds.

Silliman Institute's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Parklane Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.

Silliman Institute didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-41 loss against Hartfield Academy on the 4th. As for Parklane Academy, they will take on Oak Forest Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
