Basketball Recap: Darien West's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pawhuska over Garber

Pawhuska fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Garber on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 51-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Garber Wolverines. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 64-54 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Pawhuska lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Darien West, who went 5 of 10 en route to 10 points along with five boards and four steals. West continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Lane Kyler was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Pawhuska has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Garber, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pawhuska will head out to face off against Pawnee at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Garber, they will head out on the road to challenge Crescent at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
