Softball Game Preview: Lehman Lobos vs. Lake Travis Cavaliers

Lehman is 2-7 against Lake Travis since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Lehman Lobos will be taking part in a tournament against the Lake Travis Cavaliers at 3:00 p.m.

Lehman's tournament run continued when they took on Bowie on Friday. Lehman took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bowie.

Lehman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Adame, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Lake Travis had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 16-3 margin over the Tigers/Jaguars. Considering the Cavaliers have won four games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Carsyn DeLaughter was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Ella Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Lake Travis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Floresville only posted a batting average of .059.

Lehman's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Lake Travis, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.

Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lehman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Lake Travis struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Lehman skirted past Lake Travis 7-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Does Lehman have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Travis turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
