Basketball Game Preview: Midfield Patriots vs. Parker Thundering Herd

Midfield is 8-1 against Parker since December of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Midfield Patriots will take on the Parker Thundering Herd in a tournament on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Midfield has four straight victories, Parker has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Midfield strolled past Fairfield with points to spare, taking the game 51-33. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Tigers are ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Midfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauren Stokes, who went 9 of 19 on her way to 22 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Stokes a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamiya Webb, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 boards.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-32, which was the final score in Parker's tilt against Ramsay on Tuesday.

Parker's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Midfield, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Midfield took a serious blow against Parker in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 63-21. Can Midfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
