Recap: Wheatland Pirates vs. Sutter Huskies
The Wheatland Pirates''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. The game between Wheatland and Sutter wasn't particularly close, with Wheatland falling 23-8. While losing is never fun, Wheatland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 515th, while Sutter is ranked 169th).
Marcus Meras was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Another reason for the win was Sutter's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Auckland Asiata and his three sacks.
Wheatland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Sutter, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2.
Wheatland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sutter also has no future games currently scheduled.
