Baseball Recap: Centennial Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Centennial walked away with it. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bishop Gorman Gaels a 5-0 shutout on Tuesday. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 4-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jake Turner made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over 6.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Terrell Otis was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Centennial has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Gorman, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 18-13.

As of now, neither Centennial nor the Gaels have any future games scheduled.
