Basketball Recap: Dr. Phillips Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Dr. Phillips had won two straight home games and Jamila Ray did her part to make it three on Wednesday. The Dr. Phillips Panthers claimed a resounding 73-31 win over the Leesburg Yellow Jackets thanks in part to Ray, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards.

The team also got some help courtesy of Anilys Rolon, who went 5 of 8 en route to 16 points. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Despite the loss, Leesburg still got an impressive performance from Alysya Smith, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Aniya Hester, who earned seven points.

Dr. Phillips is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29 points. As for Leesburg, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Dr. Phillips has already played their next matchup, a 69-6 victory against Jones on the 30th. As for Leesburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-57 defeat against Oak Ridge on the 25th.
