Game recap: 19-point quarter leads Modesto Christian to defeat of East Union

Modesto Christian (Modesto, Calif.) scored 19 points in the first quarter to secure a big 31-6 victory over East Union (Manteca, Calif.) on Saturday.

The Crusaders scored on a touchdown run by JaVaughn Iversen, a touchdown pass by Anthony Brooks to Andre Edwards and a Zack Megee touchdown run in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Iversen in the first quarter, Modesto Christian led 25-0 at the half.

Both teams scored six points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 25 entering the fourth.

Megee played well for MC in the victory. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.

The Lancers' Aaron Ramos was the standout player for his team. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown.



East Union's lone touchdown came on a 15-yard run by Ramos in the third quarter.

The win was a nice bounce back for the Modesto school, which lost to Calaveras last week, 37-30. The loss was the third in a row for EU.

Modesto Christian (2-2) will play a Trans Valley game against Hilmar next week, while East Union (0-3) will take on Lathrop in a Valley Oak game.
