Red River faced Shanley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Roughriders came out on top against the Deacons by a score of 7-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Roughriders, who have now won four contests in a row.

Jocelyn Berg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Red River's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Shanley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Red River is taking a road trip to face off against Beulah at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shanley, they will face off against Sheyenne at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
