Softball Recap: North Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

North entered their tilt with Paradise Valley on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 16-11.

Solis Coker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Figueroa, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Ariana Velasquez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.

North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

North's record now sits at 7-9. As for Paradise Valley, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

North didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-2 victory against Metro Tech on the 4th. As for Paradise Valley, they will face off against North Canyon at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans are facing the Rattlers at the right time seeing as the Rattlers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
