Baseball Recap: Torrey Pines Comes Up Short

Torrey Pines was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Rancho Bernardo Broncos. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Brody Martin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Torrey Pines is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Torrey Pines saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Waisbord, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Torrey Pines' record is now 11-14. As for Rancho Bernardo, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-11.

While Torrey Pines had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
