Recap: Middlesex Chargers vs. King & Queen Central Royal Tigers
The Middlesex Chargers stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 78-41 win over King & Queen Central at home. Given Middlesex's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while King & Queen Central is ranked 435th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Kellen Layne, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Cameron Lambert was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Middlesex has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for King & Queen Central, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Middlesex will challenge Mathews at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Mathews is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. King & Queen Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Colonial Beach at 8:00 p.m. on January 24th. Colonial Beach is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
