The Pioneer Panthers will challenge the Delphi Community Oracles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Pioneer has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Pioneer's last matchup with Bremen could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Tuesday. The Panthers came up short against the Lions, falling 11-4. The Panthers have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Pioneer saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lane Weldy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Delphi Community, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over Carroll on Thursday.
Brett Huffman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Delphi Community is undefeated when Huffman posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Levi Coghill was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Delphi Community: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Xaine Tessier, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Delphi Community hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carroll struck out eight times.
Delphi Community's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Pioneer, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-6.
Pioneer came up short against Delphi Community in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 11-6. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
