Basketball Game Preview: Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones vs. Lincoln Railsplitters

Sacred Heart-Griffin is 2-8 against Lincoln since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones will take on the Lincoln Railsplitters at 7:00 p.m. Sacred Heart-Griffin knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Lincoln likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Sacred Heart-Griffin didn't have too much trouble with Jacksonville as they won 73-58. Given the Cyclones' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Crimsons are ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lincoln waltzed into their game on Monday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They put the hurt on the Purple Raiders with a sharp 54-28 victory. That 26 point margin sets a new team best for the Railsplitters this season.

Sacred Heart-Griffin better keep an eye on Frank Sanders. He was instrumental in Lincoln's win, going 9 of 11 to rack up 20 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Those 20 points gave Sanders a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Komnick, who posted 14 points and four steals.

The win got Sacred Heart-Griffin back to even at 13-13. As for Lincoln, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8.
