Softball Recap: Bradshaw Christian Victorious

Bradshaw Christian hadn't done well against Union Mine recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Pride won by a run and slipped past the Diamondbacks 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pride have posted since April 29, 2024.

Kaylee Hand spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bradshaw Christian got a massive performance out of Lexi Ortiz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Slater, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Bradshaw Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Bradshaw Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Union Mine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
