Basketball Recap: Valley View Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Marion

On Tuesday, Valley View faced Marion in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Valley View Blazers fell 71-60 to the Marion Patriots. The Blazers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 60-58.

This is the second loss in a row for Valley View and nudges their season record down to 5-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 26-2 Greene County Tech (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 80.9% over those games). As for Marion, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.

Valley View will be playing at home against Nettleton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Nettleton will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Valley View surely won't give up without a fight. As for Marion, they are taking a road trip to challenge Greene County Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
