The West York Area Bulldogs will take on the Kennard-Dale Rams at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
West York Area's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Spring Grove by a score of 4-0. The Bulldogs have beaten the Rockets the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rockets has come to flipping the script.
The result came thanks to Maddie McGlynn's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Addison Skimski and Kayleigh Becker did most of the damage at the plate: Skimski went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Becker went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: West York Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Grove only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, Kennard-Dale came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Eagles 10-0. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly ten runs.
Taryn Ashenfelter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Argiro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Taylor Rinaudo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
West York Area's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Kennard-Dale, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West York Area has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Kennard-Dale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
