Baseball Recap: Manchester Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Manchester lost against Eastern back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Greyhounds took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.

Thomas Barnhart was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Barnhart was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Luke Applegate made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Traevyn Hilderbrand, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Manchester's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Eastern, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Manchester didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-0 win against Glenwood on the 12th. As for Eastern, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-5 victory against Huntington on the 12th.
