Basketball Recap: Meigs County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Polk County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Meigs County). They took down the Polk County Wildcats 83-69 on Friday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.

Meigs County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brody Goines, who almost dropped a triple-double with 15 points, 12 boards, and nine assists. The dominant performance also gave Goines a new career-high in blocks (four). Eli Hope also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Goines wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Meigs County was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Polk County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Zanten Branham, who posted 19 points and three blocks. The game was his third in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Webb, who put up 18 points and five assists.

Meigs County's victory bumped their record up to 8-20. As for Polk County, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11.

Meigs County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-56 defeat against Tellico Plains on the 22nd. Polk County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
