Volleyball Game Preview: Wilmington Hurricane vs. Archbishop Alter Knights

Wilmington is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Archbishop Alter a six-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Wilmington Hurricane will be playing in front of their home fans against the Archbishop Alter Knights at 6:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Wilmington didn't have quite enough to beat Carroll and fell 3-2. While the Hurricane didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 25-21 in the first set.

Wilmington took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-22, 15-6.

Despite the defeat, Wilmington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jo'Lese Harpen had 11 assists and ten digs.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Alter lost 3-0 to Fairfield on Tuesday.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-18, 25-17.

Wilmington's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Archbishop Alter, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-19.

Wilmington took their victory against Archbishop Alter in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Hurricane have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
