Softball Recap: North Mustangs vs. Camelback Spartans
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but North ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 16-13 win over the Camelback Spartans. The victory was just what North needed coming off of a 19-7 defeat in their prior match.
Solis Coker made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Coker was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, a triple, and a stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.
In other batting news, North let Natalie Figueroa and Mia Romero loose on the outfield. Figueroa went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and a stolen base, while Romero scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. Romero is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayanna Goode, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

At the plate, Dana Cruz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Adryelle Wilfert was another key contributor, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
North's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11. As for Camelback, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
North will head out on the road to challenge Browne at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Browne is coming into the game with four straight victories at home, so North will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Camelback will take on Maryvale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Maryvale's favor is that they have posted big run totals in their last four matchups.
