Baseball Recap: Fordham Prep Comes Up Short

Fordham Prep was the 3-1 winner over Moore Catholic when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rams took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mavericks on Thursday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Derek Soroa put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Soroa was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Jack McKillop and Lucas DeJesus did some serious damage despite the final result: McKillop scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while DeJesus went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. McKillop has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Fordham Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Moore Catholic, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-5-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fordham Prep will host Monsignor Scanlan at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Moore Catholic, they will welcome John Jay at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.
