Baseball Recap: Vallejo Find Success

Vallejo won the last time they faced Mare Island Tech Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Redhawks walked away with a 15-11 win over the Griffins. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redhawks.

Jacob Pallais made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. Pallais was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Vallejo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alonzo Saunders, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Josue Gutierez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Vallejo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2025.

The victory got Vallejo back to even at 3-3. As for Mare Island Tech Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Vallejo didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-0 win against Richmond on the 27th. As for Mare Island Tech Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Aspire Richmond Ca. College Preparatory Academy at 4:00 p.m. on April 8.
