Baseball Recap: Sharyland Wins Going Away Against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest

Sharyland never let their opponents score on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas with a sharp 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Rattlers, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Roy Rodriguez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.

At the plate, Luis Balderas and Nic Valdez did most of the damage at the plate: Balderas went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Valdez went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Balderas has posted since back in February. Luis Cienfuegos was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Sharyland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Sharyland's record now sits at 14-4-2. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Sharyland will face off against Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pioneer will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Sharyland surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they will challenge Rowe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rowe's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
