Basketball Recap: Franklin Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Franklin has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eastwood Troopers. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 58-44 to them when the teams met on Tuesday, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Franklin saw an underclassman step up: freshman Allison De La O went 8 of 15 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. De La O's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyla Winfield, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Franklin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive games.

Franklin's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6. As for Eastwood, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

Franklin will take on Socorro in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season. Eastwood and Pebble Hills will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pebble Hills also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 55.4 points per game.
